TS: Lightning Solders Husband and Wife Together

A RUSSIAN couple survived being simultaneously struck by the same fork of lightning as they clung to one another in terror.

Vladimir Chumbasov was hit in the shoulder as he sat on a terrace outside his home in Novokubansk, southern Russia, watching storm clouds gather overhead, online newspaper Pravda reported.

He claims the bolt, one of two that struck his deck area in quick succession, passed through his body before electrocuting his wife who was pressed up against him in fear.

Amazingly, both of them survived.

“We jumped up, and it hit me in the right shoulder, went through my stomach, struck my wife’s elbow that she was pushing against my side and came out of her left leg," Mr Chumbasov, 56, said.

"I lost consciousness just for several seconds thinking that I was hanging between life and death.

"The lightning burnt my T-shirt. I wonder why it struck the wooden terrace if there was a metal roof and electric power lines nearby."

The couple's 26-year-old son was standing just feet away but was unhurt. He raised the alarm and his parents were rushed to the hospital, where they have since recovered.

“We haven’t discovered anything unusual with ourselves yet," added Mr Chumbasov.

"We’ve heard stories saying that survivors of lightning attacks may have fortune-telling abilities or do other unusual things afterwards. Nothing like that has happened to us.

"We hope that the lightning was a good sign."

Now that is cool. I was in a van, we were on a trip at the dunes. This was at the summer camp I went to, and there was a HUGE storm, we were in the campgrounds, and lightening was striking near us like just feet away, and one of the bolts hit the van, it looked like a bright light just overtook the van. I can't really put it into words. But we were all ok. The van survived too. There were 3 vans of us, and luckily we all made it back to the camp alive. THAT was a fun trip.

What you are saying boss, is not entirely correct. The current of a lighning blot chases the shortest path through material it connects with. That is why if your car is struck it wont electrocute you, unless of course you touch the metal. The trick is, to go through you the current has to travel THROUGH the air, ionizing it then through your body, the seat, which is also an isolator and will need a high voltage to jump power.
That is why it prefers to find its way down faster, aka through the metal, and then through the rubber, which can conduct high enough electricity.

So in a tank it wont travel through you, but choose the metallic body instead.

Oh and those russians are probably in the countryside, who are usually more superstitious
